'Dasavataram' portrays the conflict between Saivites and Vaishnavites.  There is a grand scene in which the Vishnu devotee Nambi who refused to worship Siva, is tied to the idol of Vishnu and drowned in the sea.  The historical truth of the conflict between Saivites and Vaishnavites that causes damage to the idols in
temples is also shown in the film, it is learnt.

Rama Gopalan, the Hindu Munnani leader, has protested against that. Declaring that this scene would weaken the Hindu community he demanded that the scene should be removed or otherwise, he has threatened that the struggle will continue against the film.

Rama Gopalan has also condemned Mallika Sheravat appearing in a scanty dress at the audio release function of 'Dasavataram'.

One could say, the adversaries more than the fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the film.
