J K Ritish was introduced to Tamil cinema through 'Kaanal Neer'. Success or not, his face is not strange to any one. The cut-outs and posters have made his face familiar.
He happens to be the grand son of Suba Thangavelu, a minister in Tamilnadu government and people in Ramanathapuram are worshipping him in their hearts. He is described as the eighth benefactor.
'Nayakan' is Ritish's second film. His pair in the film is Anitha. The other hero is Ramana and his pair would be Keerti Chawla. The film is directed by Saravana Shakthi. Maria Manohar has composed music for the lyrics written by Muthuvijayan, Yogi, Ka. Chezhiyan and Karthik Neta.
The song release function was held in Chennai today. Rajathi Ammal, the wife of Chief Minister Karunanidhi released the songs and Suba Thangavelu, Minister for Slum Clearance received them. Information minister Paridhi Ilamvazhudhi received the songs CD. The trailer of the film was released by Revenue Minister I Periyasamy.
Those who participated in the function and expressed their best wishes included the Film Chamber President K.R.G., and Producers' Council president Rama Narayanan.
Producer Jayakumar Reddy who met the media after the function said: "Started with Rs. 2 crore budget, it has now touched Rs.8 crore. The reason for this is the goodwill, respect the hero enjoys with the people of Ramanathapuram. A song and dance number with Ritish and Anitha alone cost them Rs. 1 crore.”
Speaking on the occasion when director Saravana Shakthi said, "Ritish will become another super star in Tamilnadu in three years," Ritish was immensely pleased.
